Mayo street closed for seventh consecutive day

Ellison Street in Castlebar remains closed for a seventh consecutive day.

Clarity is still awaited from Mayo County Council in regard to when it will reopen.

Diversions have been in place since last Thursday when the windscreen of a car was damaged after it was struck by a heavy object which fell from the roof of a derelict building on the east side of the street.

Pedestrians are restricted to walking on one side of the street only.

The incident has highlighted the need to address the problem of derelict buildings at the location.
