Action sought on flooding in Mayo residential area

An elected member of Mayo County Council has raised concerns over ongoing flooding issues in the Rathbawn and Garryduff areas of Castlebar.

Councillor Ger Deere is calling on Mayo County Council and other agencies who have responsibility for the maintenance of waterways and drainage to carry out works to alleviate the problem.

He said several households in the area have had to endure their properties being flooded on a regular basis.

A motion on the matter has been submitted ahead of next week's meeting of the Castlebar Municipal District.
