Dumping eyesore cleaned up at Mayo beauty spot

A dumping eyesore has been cleaned up at a popular Mayo beauty spot.

Regular walkers to the Booster Station at Croagh Moyle, Glenisland, were outraged when they discovered the rubbish discarded close to the top of the hill some weeks ago.

Now, following a request by Councillor Ger Deere, it has been cleared away by outdoor staff of Mayo County Council.

It follows the council's actions last week in removing a number of burned-out vehicles dumped there some time ago.

Councillor Deere thanked the workers for their efforts.

He said he looked forward to other improvement works being carried out at the location in due course.

Croagh Moyle has become a very popular walking route during lockdown with many people taking the two-hour route on a daily basis.

There are beautiful views of the Nephin Beg range, Corraun, Clare Island, Inishturk, Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay from the summit.
