Significant decline in positive Covid numbers at Mayo University Hospital

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has fallen by 13 to 30 in the past 24 hours.

Four new confirmed case was admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on February 17.

That's according to the latest HSE report from the facility compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are now the 11th highest in the country, the list headed by the St. James's Hospital, Dublin, with 93.

Galway University Hospital has 37 positive cases in care, up by five, while Sligo University Hospital has 10, no change.

There are three suspected cases at the Castlebar centre, up by one, and two confirmed cases are in the facility's ICU, no change.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 752, a decrease of 13.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally is 148, a decrease of three.

There is one vacant general beds, down by eight, and one vacant critical care bed at MUH, a drop of two.

A total 27 new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, bringing the total to 338 for the past two weeks.

It leaves the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 259 - above the national average of 252.9.
