Evidence of the graffiti at the Castlebar Primary Care Centre

Gardaí probing graffiti incident at Mayo primary care centre

A garda investigation is taking place after a primary care centre in Mayo was daubed in graffiti.

The incident occurred at the facility at Moneen in Castlebar.

It is understood it was conducted as part of the anti-vaccination campaign. The words were covered over in white paint earlier today.

In a statement this afternoon, local Councillor Ger Deere has condemned the incident.

He stated: "Everyone is entitled to their views but this is certainly not the way to express them.

"The roll-out of the vaccine has given hope to millions of people and has been proven medically to fight the dreaded pandemic that has turned our world upside down.

"We all hope vaccines will help us all get back to some normal quality of life in the near future.

"It was quite upsetting for members of the public who were attending the primary care centre this morning to see this graffiti.

"I condemn those engaged it this vandalism. It not the way to express these views, there are plenty of other platforms to do so," he added.
