Death of Castlebar woman who had deep love of Irish culture

The death has occurred peacefully at Cuan Chaitriona Nursing Home, Castlebar, of Frances Carter (née Morahan), Mountdaisy, Castlebar.

She will be sadly missed by her sorrowing husband Walter, daughters Marie Carter Lamb (UK), Jacqueline Coyle (Dublin), sons Walter (Mountdaisy), Michael (Kildare), and Francis (Mountdaisy), grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Frances loved all aspects of Irish culture and in particular traditional Irish music.

She was an accomplished accordion and tin whistle player, having played in many parts of Ireland.

She was noted for her beautiful singing voice and her love of Irish dancing. She was involved with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann throughout her life.

Removal takes place from her home in Mountdaisy on Tuesday at 10.30 a.m., arriving at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Funeral Mass at 11.30 a.m.

Afterwards Frances will be laid to rest with her parents in the Old Cemetery, Castlebar.
