Live St. Patrick's Day theatre broadcast from Westport

WITH restrictions still very much in place this year for St. Patrick's Day, Westport Town Hall are delighted to be given the opportunity to showcase one of its original productions, Patrick, to a virtual audience from 7.30 p.m. on March 17.

Described in the national media as a 'tour de force', and following sell-out theatre performances in Westport Town Hall from 2016 to 2019, Patrick will return to the virtual Westport theatre stage for a very special St. Patrick’s Day performance in association with Mayo.ie.

Through the ancient art of storytelling using the spoken word, performer and script-writer Declan Askin navigates this original multimedia production to achieve the ultimate artistic goal - to entertain and enlighten the audience through music, dance, song and cinematic imagery to tell the story of Ireland’s patron saint, Patrick.

This production leaves the starring role to the story, with original music composed and performed by Des Cafferkey and Bart De Boer.

Heading up the majestic rebel-rousing dancing are Ciara-May Ball, Tim Carty, Hannah Carty and Adam McCluskey - all carefully choreographed by Bernadine Cresham-Ball and Louise Cresham of the Cresham Academy of Dance, each performer displaying their own unique style and poise throughout the show.

A particularly poignant part of the show is the performance by Beibhinn Askin who transports the audience to a time when immigration had the Irish people in its firm grip, all done in the most endearing way with the song 'Ellis Island'.

The overall production design is by Paul Dunning with recording of the show by Callaghan Productions at Westport Town Hall, with sound design by Bart de Boer at the Clew Bay Recording Studio. The show is produced by Westport Town Hall Theatre and will be introduced on the night by MC Dermott Langan.

Please note that all safety precautions are in place and fully adhered to for this recording at the theatre.

This special performance would not be possible without the generous support of the Westport-Bellmullet Municipal District, MAYO.IE and Councillors Peter Flynn, Christy Hyland, Brendan Mulroy and John O'Malley.

It will be streamed live on St. Patrick's Day at 7.30 p.m. via Mayo.ie and Westport Theatre Media platforms. Further information will be available at https://www.westporttheatre.com/ and https://www.mayo.ie/.
