Covid infection rate in Erris is now lowest in Mayo

New figures released by the Department of Health have revealed that two electoral areas in Mayo have 14-day Covid infection rates above the national average of 161.3.

The study was undertaken in respect of the period from February 23 to March 8.

Swinford has a rating of 243 per 100,000 of its population of 17,286 while the Claremorris rate is 231 in respect of its population of 27,141.

Belmullet, which had the highest rate in the country in January, now has the lowest rate in Mayo - 63.5 per 100,000 of its population of 12,600.

The Westport rate is 97.9 for its population of 18,378, Ballina's is 143.4 for its population of 25,110 and Castlebar's is 110 for its population of 29,992.
