Success of Mayo firm in securing multi-year agreement with I-Form is lauded

A Mayo TD has welcomed Fort Wayne Metals Ireland's announcement of a multi-year agreement with I-Form, the SFI Research Centre for Advanced Manufacturing to develop 3D printed wires for use in next generation medical devices.

In a statement Mayo TD Alan Dillon said: “Fort Wayne Metals is a valued member of the supply ecosystem that is all important in supporting the Med Tech sector.

"This further expansion is excellent news and demonstrates a strong commitment from the company.

"It’s also a strong endorsement of Castlebar and the region as a great location for other similar type medical device and pharmaceutical businesses.

"The new jobs being created will have a substantial beneficial impact on the local economy in Mayo and the wider west Region.

"I wish Michael O’Donnell, managing director, and his team continued success in Castlebar.

"Fort Wayne Metals has been an important employer in Co. Mayo from when they first opened their doors in 2002.

"It is a real success story having started with a small number of employees and have since increased their employee numbers tenfold to over 100 employees at present.

“This announcement is further evidence of how the West can provide a wonderful environment for innovation, investment and high valued job creation.

"I commend Fort Wayne Metals Ireland, for putting their trust in the West of Ireland.

"With the new N5 road project from Turlough to Westport taking shape, and the Urban Regeneration of Castlebar, our ability to attract investment and jobs into the region will only improve.”
