HSE issues latest Covid report from Mayo University Hospital

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has fallen by one to six over the past 24 hours.

No new confirmed cases were admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on March 24.

The latest HSE report from the facility was compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are now the 15th highest in the country, the list headed by St. James's Hospital, Dublin, with 43.

Galway University Hospital has five positive cases in care, no change, while Sligo University Hospital has 14, a decrease of one.

There is one suspected case at the Castlebar centre, a drop of one.

The ICU at Mayo University Hospital is Covid-free.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 308, a fall of two.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally is 75, no change.

There are two vacant general beds and one vacant critical care bed today at MUH.

Eight new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, leaving the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 62.8 - below the national average of 159.5.

Mayo's five-day moving average remains at six.
