Council will remove waste from Ballyheane lay-by

WASTE material left in a lay-by in Ballyheane is to be removed next week.

The issue was highlighted by Councillor Al McDonnell at a local area meeting this week.

He explained how someone had arrived on site on the Westlands Road at night, with the assistance of a lorry and digger, and dumped a full load of waste material in the lay-by.

Locals, he said, couldn't understand why.

Councillor McDonnell asked that the council clear it and put up adequate signage at the site.

“It is a most extraordinary development and no one can understand how or why it happened,” he said.

Senior engineer Ann Sweeney confirmed a clear-out will be arranged for next week.
