Covid numbers at Mayo University Hospital now sixth lowest in the country

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has dropped from five to one over the past 24 hours.

No new confirmed cases were admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on March 30.

The latest HSE report from the facility was compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are now the sixth lowest in the country.

Galway University Hospital has eight positive cases in care, up by one, while Sligo University Hospital has nine, a drop of four.

There is one suspected case at the Castlebar centre, no change.

The ICU at Mayo University Hospital is Covid-free again.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 272, a drop of 18.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally is 64, down by one.

There are two vacant general beds and no vacant critical care beds today at MUH.

Fourteen new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, leaving the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 79.9 - below the national average of 161.1.

Mayo's five-day moving average stands at nine.

There were six additional Covid deaths reported nationally yesterday and 411 new cases
