Deputy Alan Dillon said it was 'fantastic' to see the range of projects across Mayo which will be supported by an investment of €72,000 for the county.

“This fund will help to safeguard our rich built heritage, keeping many buildings in use and helping to bring many others back into use. It will also have a knock-on economic benefit by generating jobs, providing further employment for heritage contractors and other skilled crafts and tradespeople,” he commented.

Deputy Michael Ring, welcoming the allocations, stated: “Funding under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme supports owners and custodians of historic and protected structures to safeguard and maintain their properties.

“This is a very important scheme which greatly assists in the maintenance and protection of protected structures in our locality.”
