Pedestrian safety measures confirmed for busy Mayo roadway

Safety measures for pedestrians are to be put in place at Turlough Road in Castlebar.

The news has been confirmed to Councillor Ger Deere.

He said Mayo County Council has been allocated €200,000 for the project.

Councillor Deere said residents of the area are very concerned about the current situation.

The road is also frequently used by exercise walkers and cyclists.

The works will include a pedestrian crossing and cycle lanes.
