Warning lights issue in county town still not resolved

PROBLEMS still remain with flashing lights at a junction at Market Square in Castlebar.

The lights, at the junction of Hopkins Road and Market Square, were covered with a shroud, meaning they were only visible to vehicles approaching perpendicular to the crossing.

That was resolved, but, said Councillor Michael Kilcoyne, there is an issue where you still can't see the lights as they are obscured by a parking fees sign.

When you approach from the Durcan's Chemist side you can't see the light as it's blocked by the sign, he told a local municipal district meeting this week.

The situation will be looked at again, he was informed.
