Cora Staunton earns a place on AFLW Team of the Year

Cora Staunton's form for the Great Western Sydney Giants in Australia this season saw her earn a place on the AFL Women's Team of the Year.

Her team may have failed to reach the playoff stages but Staunton, with 10 goals during the regular season, was named among the forwards in the team, which was selected after the nine-round regular season series.

Carnacon and Mayo legend Staunton (39) joined the Giants in 2017. She suffered a triple leg break two years ago but her return from that injury has seen her reach great heights once more.

Next weekend she'll be watching on, however, as the AFLW reaches the semi-final stage, which will have Mayo interest in the form of Sarah Rowe, whose Collingwood team takes on Brisbane Lions.

The other semi-final is between Adelaide Crows and Melbourne Demons. The final will be played a week later.
