Retired British lawyer and judge laid to rest in Louisburgh

The funeral has taken place in Louisburgh of Jeremiah (Jerry) Harman, the former British lawyer and judge who had a lifelong connection with the west Mayo parish.

Prayer Service of Committal and interment took place today in St. Catherine's Church of Ireland Cemetery in the town after the funeral cortége had departed earlier from his home at Srahnacloy.

He was laid to rest beside his parents, the late Sir Charles Harman and Lady Helen Sarah (née Le Roy Lewis), who resided at Tully Lodge, Louisburgh, for many years.

Aged 90, his death took place in London on March 7.

He is deeply mourned by his former wife Erica (née Bridgeman) and their three children, daughter Sarah, sons Charlie and his husband Lindsay Cuthill, Toby and his wife Joanne (née Boxer), grandchildren Julien, Nicholas and Jonathan Evans, Isobel and Oliver Harman, brother Nick and his children Edward, Sam and Becky, extended family and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

In the autumn of 1998 The Connaught Telegraph reported that he had landed three salmon from the Bunowen River at Louisburgh.

Years earlier he had built his own cottage in Srahnacloy and it was where he loved to spend family time.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
