The virus. . .give us all a break, please

by Auld Stock

COVID-19 is the worst pandemic to hit the world since the Spanish Flu of 1918.

The difference between then and now is that scientists have come up with a series of vaccinations to combat the disease.

As well as that, in comparison to 1918 nowadays people live in better housing with modern sanitary facilities and equipment to make life easier for householders.

Of course, we now have radio and television.

And this is where I have a grouse, and a serious one at that.

From 7 o’clock in the morning ‘til 12 midnight the story of Covid-19 is repeated on programme after programme.

Every ounce of information is thrown at the listener, with different presenters adding their tuppenceworth.

To be honest, I believe the public is sickened to death listening to the same dreary drone hour after hour.

The public has every right to hear the manner in which the virus is progressing or otherwise. Fair enough.

However, what’s happening in the national media at the moment is a form of verbal browbeating.

The result is that young and old are being frightened out of their wits.

The public must obey the rules if the virus is to be wiped out.

This is common sense, a virtue which is totally lacking in the manner in which radio and television are treating the public in relation to pandemic.

Give us all a break . . . please.
