HSE issues updated Covid report from Mayo University Hospital

Two confirmed Covid cases are in care at Mayo University Hospital today.

The situation has not changed over the past 24 hours.

That's according to the latest statistics compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.

There is also one suspected case at the facility as well as one suspected case in ICU.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised Covid cases is 203, a drop of 20.

There are 46 patients in critical care, down by four.

Mayo University Hospital has no vacant general beds and one vacant critical care bed.

Up to 21 new positive cases were identified in the Mayo community yesterday, according to the HSE's daily report.

No additional deaths were reported while 394 new cases were registered.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn is warning of "a considerable risk" of another wave of Covid-19 infection if restrictions are eased too quickly.

It has also been confirmed immunisation clinics planned for today using the AstraZeneca vaccine have been cancelled by the HSE due to changes in the advice on the use of the product for people under 60.
