BALLAGHADERREEN GAA Club will hold its draw for a brand new 211 Kia Sportage on Saturday, May 15.

The fundraising draw has been held up on a couple of occasions due to Covid-19 restrictions but the club has confirmed that the draw will go ahead on that date, while adhering to any restrictions still in place.

The monies raised by the draw are being used to build a new 60m x 40m 4G astroturf pitch. The work on that is almost complete.

Ballaghaderreen GAA Club also confirmed recently that the new pitch will be named after the late Frank Kelly, a stalwart of the club.

The new date will mean that the grand prize draw will tie in with the opening of the Frank Kelly Memorial Training Pitch and the return to training of all of the club’s teams.

Ballaghaderreen senior joint manager and former Mayo star Andy Moran said: "We are delighted to confirm the new date for our car draw. It was regrettable that it couldn’t go ahead prior to this but we are happy to now have a definite date. The draw will go ahead on Saturday, May 15, and we will have measures in place to ensure it adheres to all the current guidelines."

He continued: "It is also very fitting that it will go ahead on this date. It will tie in with the opening of our new state-of-the-art floodlit astroturf 4G pitch, which is being named after the legendary Frank Kelly, and the return to training of all of the teams within the club, which will be a welcome move, especially after the last few months.’

Andy concluded: "We want to thank everyone for their support for the draw so far. It has been a huge success and will help the club to move forward and progress into the future. We also want to thank everyone who has purchased tickets for their patience over the past few months."

Tickets for the car draw are still on sale for €50. First prize is a brand new 211 Kia Sportage or €25,000 in cash, second prize is two tickets to an Arsenal home game, plus flights and one night’s accommodation, with a host of other prizes also up for grabs also, including two nights' B&B and one evening meal in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel, Belmullet, two nights' B&B in the Garryvoe Hotel in Cork, two nights' B&B and one evening meal in the Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon, and a training day with Andy Moran.

Further details of the draw format will be confirmed over the coming weeks on the club’s social media platforms. If you wish to purchase a ticket, log on now to https://bit.ly/3umeIDY or contact any member of the Ballaghaderreen GAA Club committee.
