Mayo student hosting Chop for Charity fundraiser

WESTPORT student Rebecca Staunton (17) is running a fundraiser in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice entitled Chop For Charity.

Rebecca's ponytail will be getting the chop later this month and she will be donating it to The Little Princess Trust.

Currently completing Foróige's Leadership For Life programme, Rebecca established Chop For Charity for her module 3 community action project.

The big chop takes place on April 30 and in the meantime she hopes to fundraise as much as she can for Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

Said Rebecca: “Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation does amazing work in both Mayo and Roscommon. On account of Covid-19 all charities around the world have not been able to hold their usual fundraisers because of restrictions. I want to do my best to try and minimise the gap between pre-Covid and Covid funds within Mayo-Roscommon Hospice Foundation so they can continue to provide their vital services.”

Having set a target of €600, the response to date has been phenomenal and has well passed that already, with time still remaining to donate – all contributions are appreciated, and 100% of your donation goes directly to the charity.
