Ireland's smallest ram lamb gets a new home

A CELEBRITY ram lamb - the smallest of his kind in Ireland - is leaving his temporary Clonbur residence for a new home.

The rare lamb, named Noddy, stands at just 50cm tall.

He hit the headlines due to his height and also when a search commenced in Connemara to find his father. Measuring in at 80cm long and 50cm high, Noddy has built up a huge following throughout the country.

Unfortunately, after two weeks of a touring search of Connemara, Noddy, a black-faced mountain ram, has failed to locate his dad.

Born in Sligo last summer, he has been residing in Clonbur with Paddy Rock along with a Zwartble ram lamb and both have become good buddies since his arrival there three weeks ago.

However, as this was only to be a temporary arrangement a search was launched to find a permanent home for him.

He will now be saying goodbye to the hill as he makes his way to his new home in Wicklow, courtesy of Varley Trasport. His dispatch dockets will be processed through Burke Livestock Mart at their weekly sale by mart owner Brid Burke.

Noddy may be Ireland's smallest mountain ram but he made a top price at Maam Cross Mart, selling for €500, which has been donated to MADRA.
