Passing of former Connaught Telegraph and Irish Press reporter

The death has occurred peacefully in the loving care of the staff of St Brendan's Nursing Home, Mulranny, of Patrick (better known as Paddy) Browne, Derrycourane, Islandeady, Castlebar.

In his 94th year, he was dearly loved husband of the late Norah (née Maher) and brother of the late John (Charles Street, Castlebar) and the late Mary Walsh (Cloggernagh, Islandeady).

He will be sadly missed by his loving son Padraic, daughter-in-law Vanessa (née McCormack) and his adored grandchildren Cormac and Caden, nieces Teresa and Bernadette, nephew Eamon, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Removal takes place from the Kilcoyne Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, on Wednesday at 10.15 a.m., arriving at St. Patrick's Church, Islandeady, for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m., after which Paddy will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Norah in Islandeady Cemetery.

In his younger days Paddy worked as a reporter with The Connaught Telegraph and The Irish Press.

In later years he was a member of the staff of the Inland Fisheries Board.

Paddy had many and varied interests. He was a well known historian and also a water diviner.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
