Plans for new north Mayo sports pitch

A NORTH Mayo community is to get a welcome sports facilities boost.

Mayo County Council is planning to construct a multi-sport astro pitch in the village of Carrowtigue.

The site is beside Scoil Muire Gan Smal and it is proposed to link it in with the existing playground to the east. Pathways and gates will be provided to access the facility from the school also.

It is anticipated that there will be a three-month construction period, to commence in July.

The council has published a part 8 planning notice in respect of the development and the public are invited to make their submissions or observations by June 10.
