Plaque to be unveiled in memory of Mayo legend of education and GAA

THE former CEO of Mayo VEC, the late Joe Langan, a legend of education and Gaelic football in the county, is set to be commemorated at a centre of learning in Castlebar.

As Castlebar and Westport Colleges of Further Education amalgamate to form the Mayo CFE, it has been proposed that a plaque in his honour be unveiled at the Castlebar campus.

Councillor Martin McLoughlin made the suggestion at a municipal district meeting where his colleagues supported the idea, as well as also remembering the late Joe McDonagh who oversaw the establishment of the Mayo Sligo Leitrim Education and Training Board when the VECs merged.
