Restrictions at maternity unit of Mayo University Hospital are eased - HSE

Some restrictions at the maternity unit of Mayo University Hospital have been lifted.

The HSE has confirmed the easing of visiting controls for partners at the Castlebar facility.

A statement issued by the executive stated: "Partners are allowed to attend with mothers in labour, but they must leave the maternity department when the mother is transferred to the maternity ward.

"Partners of all women who are inpatients on the maternity ward can visit daily for one hour and not exceeding one hour duration, between 6 and 7 p.m.

"Partners of women who have given birth by emergency or elective caesarean section or instrumental delivery in theatre, will be permitted to remain with their baby in the maternity ward until their partner returns from theatre.

"Partners will be screened for Covid-19 risk factors and no visiting will be permitted if any risk factors are present.

"The partner must remain at the bedside and is not permitted in other areas of the maternity ward."
