Normal service is steadily resuming at Mayo University Hospital

Mayo University Hospital is steadily restarting electivity activity following the most recent wave of Covid-19.

As services resume, patients will receive correspondence directly from the hospital in relation to their appointments.

An update published by the HSE outlined: "Patients will be advised directly regarding any precautions, pre-screening and other measures required ahead of their appointment.

"Outpatient clinics have restarted with combination of face to face and virtual clinics.

"These are growing in numbers week on week with a constant focus on safety.

"Endoscopy services are fully re-established. We are looking to grow this services over the coming months. We are currently recruiting.

"Minor surgery and procedure lists are fully restarted, including injections and epidural lists.

"Ambulatory Gynae and Colposcopy Services are fully re-established.

"Inpatient surgery for general surgery, orthopaedics and gynaecology is currently at about 35% of previous activity.

"This is slower to re-establish due to bed availability and theatre resources.

"We are also expecting to have the Older Persons Day Hospital up and running over the next number of weeks."
