Memorial to honour notable Claremorris people is proposed

A REQUEST for a memorial to commemorate notable Claremorris people has been made to Mayo County Council.

Following numerous representations, Councillor Richard Finn has asked the council to investigate the erection of a memorial to commemorate notable Claremorris people who have contributed much to the town, surrounding areas, Co. Mayo, Ireland and internationally.

In a notice of motion, he suggested an area near Claremorris Library may be suitable.

He was happy with a response from the area engineer that discussions will take place on the matter.
