Mayo surfer selected on Irish team for World Games in El Salvador

A talented Mayo surfer has been selected on the Irish team for the forthcoming World Surfing Games in El Salvador.

Castlebar's Rory Tuohy said he is excited to be apart of the experience and compete alongside some of the best athletes in the world.

The World Games take place from May 29 to June 6 across the La Bocana and El Sunzal waves at Surf City.

They are the sport's final qualifying event for the 2021 Olympics in Toyko where surfing makes its debut as an Olympic sport.

The El Salvador event were originally scheduled from May of last year but was postponed due to the Covid pandemic.
