Castlebar mourns passing of Eilis Flood

The death has occurred of Eilis Flood (née MacRandal), Turlough Road, Castlebar.

A much-loved and popular personality, she died peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Mayo Roscommon Hospice, Castlebar.

Many warm tributes have been paid to her on social media.

One described Eilis as 'a lady who had a wonderful smile'.

Another stated: “She was always such a cheerful and serene personality.”

Predeceased by her daughter Aoife Flood-Kavanagh and sons-in-law John Kellett, she is very deeply regretted by her loving daughters Clodagh Kellett (UK), Cliona Duffy (Dublin) and Sarah Byrne (Corheens, Castlebar), son Daíthí (Galway), and her children’s father David, brothers Donal (Dublin) and Rody (UK), sister Margaret Howett (Dublin), sons-in-law, Michael, Diarmuid, daughter-in-law Martha, grandchildren, neighbours, relatives and her many great friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

The family has extended special thanks to the staff of Mayo Roscommon Hospice, Castlebar.

Removal takes place from Coady’s Funeral Home tomorrow (Saturday) at 11.30 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 12.00 noon in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Eilis will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
