Passing of popular Castlebar art shop proprietor Nora Mandel
The death has occurred at University College Hospital, Galway, of Nora Mandel, Lower Charles Street, and Mandel's Art Shop, Main Street, Castlebar.
News of her passing has cast a shadow of sadness over the county town where she was held in such high regard.
A number of tributes have been paid to her on social media since her death was announced.
One described her as 'a beautiful lady always with a smile and a friendly chat'.
Predeceased by her parents Derek and Margaret and brothers Derrick (Jnr.) and Mark, Nora is deeply regretted by her brother Kevin, stepfather Michael Walsh (Breaffy), nephew and nieces Joseph, Cindy, Shannon and Sinead, sister-in-law Angellagh, uncles Henry, Willie and Liam, aunts Bernie and Mary Catherine, cousins, relatives, neighbours and wonderful friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
Nora will repose at the Coady Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10.30 a.m. with removal at 11.30 a.m. to the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon.
The funeral will proceed afterwards to Myna Cemetery Kilmeena, via Gallows Hill and Newport Road.
Nora's family would like to thank sincerely all the staff in St. Joseph's Ward, UCHG, for the care and compassion shown to Nora and her family over last number of weeks.
