Mayo's new chief executive is warmly welcomed to the county

Kevin Kelly has today commenced his new role as chief executive of Mayo County Council.

Councillor Richard Finn, cathaoirleach of the authority, formally welcomed Mr. Kelly to his new position.

Councillor Finn stated: “I am delighted to extend a warm Mayo welcome to Kevin as he embarks on this new chapter.

"I know I speak for all the elected members in wishing him every success in his new role.

"We look forward to a fruitful relationship in the months and years ahead as we work to deliver for the citizens of Mayo.”

In response, Mr. Kelly said: “It is a great honour to take up duty today in Mayo County Council as chief executive.

"I look forward to bringing my experience in local authorities over many years to this role so that together with the members and the team in Mayo County Council.

"We can maximise the opportunities for the council and in turn the county in the months and years ahead.”

Mr. Kelly previously served as chief executive at Galway County Council.
