Before and after snapshots of the pre-World War One 'High Nelly' found in a Castlebar skip and now full restored

Pre-World War One 'High Nelly' found in a Mayo skip is now fully restored

A ladies Raleigh High Nelly bicycle retrieved from a skip in Castlebar has been restored by local blacksmith Tom Kavanagh, Glenfort, with a little help from Eddie Sweeney, Fortfield.

Both men are members of the Castlebar Men’s Shed.

They restored the bike in little under four weeks.

Tom contacted Raleigh Bikes UK with the serial numbers of the bike and they confirmed it dates back to pre-World War One.

Well done to Tom and Eddie.
