€1m. revamp of Kavanagh’s SuperValu Castlebar store

Kavanagh’s SuperValu has launched its new look, state-of-the-art store in Castlebar following a significant investment of approximately €1 million.

The official relaunch takes place on Thursday next, June 3.

Kavanagh’s Castlebar employs more than 80 people and is set to offer a range of top-quality produce across a new premium meat counter, fishmonger, and bakery. The store will also have an enhanced fresh food offering with a new focus on artisan and vegan departments.

Customers will have an extensive choice of plant-based meal solutions with the full Happy Pear range being stocked in-store.

The Kavanagh’s team have gone to extensive lengths to be as environmentally conscious as possible with the new store’s innovative design and comes equipped with eco-friendly LED lighting throughout as well as closed refrigeration units which will reduce energy consumption across the premises.

They also stock 100% compostable SuperValu bags for life, fruit and veg bags and Frank & Honest coffee cups.

Commenting on the launch of the new store, Kavanagh Group Managing Director, Noel Kavanagh Jr, said: “We are thrilled to unveil our fabulous new store in Castlebar. Significant investment has delivered our brand-new state-of-the-art SuperValu concept for the local community to enjoy.

Kavanagh’s SuperValu has been a longstanding supporter of the local community in Castlebar. The team has backed local GAA clubs by supplying training gear and equipment to local teams over the last five years.

The store is also committed to working towards making Castlebar an Autism Friendly Town.

The Castlebar Autism Friendly Town Committee, chaired by Store Manager John Page, is on a great journey to make the town more autism friendly.

Additionally, this year marks 30 years of SuperValu’s continuous support and sponsorship of the TidyTowns competition and Kavanagh’s Castlebar will continue to dedicate their support to the local TidyTowns committee.
