Castlebar mourns passing of much-loved personality Teresa Kilcoyne

The death has taken place of Teresa Kilcoyne (née Quinn), Castle Street and late of Windsor, Castlebar.

In her late 80s, she died suddenly earlier today at the Sonas Nursing Home, Knock.

A much-loved and respected personality, news of her passing has cast a shadow of sadness and regret over the town - especially Castle Street where she was held in such high regard by her neighbours.

Teresa was actively involved for many years in the running of the family's busy butcher business, established at Castle Street by her husband, Sean, who died in October 2015.

She had previously worked as a bookkeeper in the former Dever's shop, Ellison Street.

Many lovely tributes have been paid to her on social media.

One described her as 'a lovely lady' and another stated: "She was very pleasant, always had time for a chat."

Predeceased by Sean and brothers and sisters, she is deeply regretted by her son Paul, daughters Mary, Majella and Sandra, grandchildren Emma, Thea, Grace and Cian, sons-in-law Mick Byrne, Michael 'Fish' Cunningham and Anto O'Malley, brother Dick Quinn (Windsor), sisters-in-law nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, her close friend Nancy Warde, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy extended.

Removal (private for family only) from Coady's Funeral Home, on Monday at 11 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, with removal afterwards to Shannon Crematorium for cremation service at 3.30 p.m. (via Main Street and Castle Street, Castlebar).

Teresa’s Funeral Mass can be listened to in Castlebar on Castlebar Parish Radio 105.3 FM or viewed on www.churchtv.ie/castlebar

The Cremation service will be streamed live on https://shannoncrematorium.com/content/26-live-streaming password TK3MON

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
