Feasibility study into possible Galway and Mayo Blueway

A FEASIBILITY study is be conducted into the development requirements and economic potential of a Galway and Mayo Blueway.

The route would extend from Lough Mask to Galway Bay.

Galway City Council have advertised a tender for the feasibility study into the project.

The study will include an examination of the development requirements and economic potential of the blueway, from Lough Mask in Mayo to Galway Bay, along the Corrib and associated waterways and canal network, and a zone five to 10 kilometres inland.

The feasibility study will include, but not be limited to, a gap analysis between existing facilities and requirements of a blueway, analysis of the potential economic and social benefits of a blueway in the area, plus proposals for capital investment in each local authority area, Galway city, Galway county and Mayo county.
