Hill walker rescued along north Mayo coastline after falling ill

A hill walker has been rescued by Ballyglass Coast Guard Unit after fallen ill while walking along the coastline between Blacksod lighthouse and Faulmore earlier today..

Once on scene the local HSE paramedics and Ballyglass Coast Guard personnel attended to the casualty.

Because of the difficult terrain and no road access the unit requested the assistance of Rescue 118.

When the helicopter arrived the casualty was brought on board and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson for the coast guard unit said: "We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.

"Well done to all involved in today's incident. All services working together to help and support our community.
