Solar powered litter bin installed at busy Mayo amenity

Castlebar Tidy Towns has welcomed the installation of a Solar powered litter bin at the car park of the Lough Lannagh walking amenity.

The committee has been lobbying for a long time for the addition of new bins around the lake and other areas around the town.

A committee member stated: "Not alone will they facilitate more litter than the normal bin but they are also bird and vermin-proof.

"It's also great to know these bins are locally manufactured in Balla by Pel Limited."

A number of weeks ago Castlebar Tidy Towns expressed their frustration and disappointment at consistent litter problems at the location because bins were not being emptied regularly.
