Double injury blow for Mayo ahead of championship opener against Sligo

Mayo have suffered a double injury blow ahead of their Connacht SFC quarterfinal against Sligo at Markievicz Park on June 26 (4.30 p.m.).

Ballintubber brothers Cillian and Diarmuid O'Connor are both doubtful for the clash after picking up injuries in today's Allianz National League Division Two semi-final victory over Clare at Ennis.

Cillian was forced to cry off shortly before half-time after sustaining a foot injury while Diarmuid suffered a suspected pulled hamstring less than 12 minutes into the encounter.

Both players will be fully assessed by the Mayo medical team before undergoing treatment.

Early reports suggests they face a race against time to be fit for the start of the championship.
