Newly installed safety signs stolen from south Mayo sports club

SAFETY signs erected at a south Mayo sports club to ensure the safety of children have been stolen - hours after they were put into use.

Yesterday (Thursday), Hollymount Ladies GAA Club were thanking their friends at MW Design, Print & Signs for sponsoring traffic calming signs to keep young members safe.

As they get back into the swing of things, traffic around the Saucer has never been busier and the club appealed to motorists to be mindful of this when dropping and collecting.

However, this morning they discovered that the signs have been taken apart and the club has been left with just the stands, with the actual signs stolen.

In a social media post, the club asked: 'Who and why would anyone do this?

'We are very annoyed and disappointed that such a ridiculous act would happen in our community.'

If anyone has any information they are asked to please contact a member of Hollymount Ladies GAA Club.
