Mayo Football League Under 21 round-up

Manulla moved to the top of the TF Royal Hotel & Theatre Division One while Swinford and Straide & Foxford United took control in Division Two.

Manulla showed why they are one of the favourites for the Division One title with a win over another of the top teams as two first half goals were enough to see off Conn Rangers in a pulsating game at Mount Falcon. Josh Webb and Aiden Dunleavy’s first half goals had Manulla in control at the break and despite Conn Rangers best efforts they kept a second clean sheet in a row as they moved to the top of the table.

Ballyheane got their Under 21 campaign off to the perfect start with a hard fought 1-0 win over Kiltimagh/Knock United at Pat Quigley Park. The only goal of the game came in the second half as Ben Edeh made an instant impact on his return to the club ensuring they picked up an important three points before they face a derby with Manulla on Thursday evening.

Castlebar Celtic put last weekend’s opening round defeat behind them with a resounding 5-0 win over Glenhest Rovers at Celtic Park. Brian Walsh bagged a hat trick including two penalties while Luke Kelly and Davitt Neary scored the other two as Celtic showed why they will be contenders come the end of the season.

In Division Two on Saturday evening Swinford made it two wins from two as they put six goals past Conn Rangers C. Callum Cairns scored twice in last weekend’s win over Ballinrobe Town and he continued his good start to the season as he hit his first hat-trick for the club at this level. Adorn Biju, Conor Devaney and Daniel Molloy was also on target for the East Mayo side who face fellow table toppers Straide & Foxford United on Thursday.

Straide & Foxford United had little trouble in maintaining their 100% record with a 5-0 win over Conn Rangers B. Cian Walsh and Alexsander Babiarczky gave United a two goal half time lead before

Walsh added his second and Tyler Guilfoyle and Sean Ruane were also on target after the break.
