Swinford councillor in line to be elected Mayo council cathaoirleach

The annual general meeting of Mayo County Council is scheduled for Monday.

The meeting will be held in the Royal Theatre at the Travellers Friend Hotel, Castlebar, and will be the first physical meeting of the local authority for a number of months.

Swinford Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Smyth is expected to be installed as cathaoirleach for the first time.

Under Covid restrictions, all meetings have been taking place online in recent months.
