Anger over flowers being stolen from Tidy Towns displays in Mayo town centre

Castlebar Tidy Towns Committee has expressed disappointment over flowers being stolen from one of their flower beds in the town centre.

Voluntary members have been brightening up a number of locations by introducing displays of colourful flowers and shrubs sponsored by local businesses.

Now they have found their good work is being undone.

A spokesperson said: "It is an insult to the town when someone does that.

"The amount of goodwill out there is encouraging and when a tiny percentage steals your flowers, you wonder why?

"We are very disappointed bit it won't distract us from our work."
