Railway bridge accident black-spot of ongoing concern

ONGOING accident issues at the railway bridge at Castlebar Train Station have been raised by Councillor Martin McLoughlin.

Numerous accidents have occurred at the location, he told a local area meeting, most of them pretty serious.

Two years ago he was told Transport Infrastructure Ireland were to carry out a survey, but he didn’t know if it was ever done and was requesting an update on it.

Recently there was a serious accident on a Saturday night where a car lost control and two vehicles were written off.

It is an ongoing problem, he said.
