Section of embankment of Castlebar river collapses

The need for works on the river embankment at Marian Row in Castlebar has been highlighted by Councillor Ger Deere.

A section of the embankment has collapsed in recent days, posing questions in regard to the safety of the foundations of the roadway above it.

Councillor Deere said it now looks terrible and he requested that something be done.

The location is very popular with local children doing the hoggie jumps.

Councillor Blackie Gavin agreed this particular area needs urgent upgrading.
