Call on An Post to immediately reverse 'wrong decision' on Castlebar services

An elected representative has criticised the decision of An Post to transfer a number of services from its delivery unit at Rinshinna, Moneen, Castlebar, to the post office at Hopkins Road in the town.

Members of the public will no longer be permitted to purchase a stamp or post a parcel at the Rinshinna facility.

Councillor Michael Kilcoyne said the decision did not make sense and will lead to an increase in members of the public having to queue at the Hopkins Road facility with social distancing restrictions still in place due to Covid.

'There is also an issue in relation to limited parking at Hopkins Road which will further inconvenience An Post customers.

"I will be raising the matter at the forthcoming meeting of the Castlebar Municipal District and asking that An Post send a representative to our meeting in September to explain the decision.

"The decision is the wrong one and must be reversed," he added.
