Meeting to discuss Mayo property tax next week

MAYO County Council will meet on July 26 to consider the setting of a local adjustment factor in respect of Local Property Tax (LPT).

The Finance (Local Property Tax) Act 2012 makes provision for elected members to vary the basic rate of LPT for their administrative area by a percentage known as the local adjustment factor.

At the meeting set by Mayo County Council to consider the matter, the members may set a local adjustment factor within the range of +/- 15% of the basic rate or may decide not to adjust the basic rate.

Members of the public were invited to make submissions on the matter. Two days before deadline day, just one submission had been received.

The closing date was Wednesday last.
