Retirement of long-serving Mayo crime prevention officer

Garda Sergeant Tony Cosgrove has retired as Mayo crime prevention officer after 16 years service to the role and 41 years as a member of the force.

A native of Erris, he resides in Claremorris and was stationed in Castlebar for the past number of years.

A well-known soccer referee, he previously served in Kiltimagh, Ballinrobe, Claremorris and in Co. Leitrim.

A widely popular personality, he was involved in launching many community alert schemes across the county.

He is wished every health and happiness in his retirement.
