Reduced speed limits at four Mayo locations to facilitate bridge works

Mayo County Council has introduced a road works speed limit order of 60kph at four bridge locations in the county to facilitate rehabilitation works.

They are at the Post Office Bridge (Bangor), Bellacorrick Musical Bridge and Knockadangan Bridge on the N59 and the Little River Bridge between Ballyvary and Bohola on the N5.

The order came into effect on August 3 and will remain in place until January 31 next.

Speed limits of 100kph had existed on the approach to three of the bridges with a 80kph at the Bellacorrick location.

The decision was taken in accordance with Section 10 of the Road Traffic Act 2004 in the interest of road safety.
