Castlebar Golf Club celebrates double Connaught title wins

CASTLEBAR Golf Club is celebrating a double Connaught success this week.

First up was young Aaron Quigley who won the Connaught Under 15 Close in Ballina Golf Club on Monday. Aaron shot a fantastic five over 76 in tough conditions to win by four shots.

The club had more success with a Connaught Pierce Purcell win over Gort last evening (Thursday) in a repeat of last last's final.

Castlebar were left to sweat as two games were won on the 19th hole, with Kieran Horkan holing the winning putt in Gort with his partner Colin Dawson coming back from two holes down with three to play to ensure another pennant gets on the wall in Castlebar.

They are now through to the All-Ireland finals in Limerick Golf Club from September 15 to 19.
